Let me just start out by saying I am not a writer. It was not my forte in school and I wouldn’t say anything has changed since then in my writing ability. But recently there has been something stirring inside me to be a blogger. I love reading blogs. Food blogs (Mix and Match Mama is my fave), mom blogs (Lucie’s List got me through pregnancy and beyond), and even the hard ones to read (Bowen’s Heart – I love this family and Bowen’s story). So maybe it came from that, this stir, to be like the other bloggers sharing their life stories for all of us.
About a month ago I read a book called “Let’s All Be Brave” by Annie F. Downs. Y’all, if you haven’t read it you probably should. It was funny, honest and very thought provoking with so much scripture backing it up! I loved every bit of it. There is a big part of me that thinks Annie and most of all God is telling me to be brave right now with this blog. It kind of scares me and in a lot of ways I feel like I might fail. But I just keep hearing Annie’s (because I feel like she’s my friend after reading her story) words asking me if I’ll be brave. If I will answer yes to things that scare me but may be hard or don’t make sense. So Annie, thank you for writing this book so the Lord could speak through you to me and I know so many others. I think it had a lot to do with this “stir” I have to blog.
So here I am picking up where I left off 3 years ago with a blog about the remodel of our house and occasionally about my photography. My goal with this is to be more intentional this time around. My prayer is that the Lord would speak through me and use this platform, no matter how small or larger it is. If at least one person is encouraged or brought joy or just has the feeling of not being alone in this journey of life, then I think it’s worth it. I plan on writing on just about everything, so stayed tuned, hopefully there will be something for everyone!
The blog title is Keepin’ It Real Y’all because at this time in my life I want to be real, authentic. And of course I’m from Texas and we say y’all a lot. So that’s my plan for this y’all, is to always keep it real and authentic.
“Lord, give me Your words in this journey. Give me the wisdom to speak truth and the courage to be open about it. I pray You would use this platform. In Jesus name, Amen.”
So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. -ISAIAH 41:10
